19-Feb-25 is a Settlement Holiday due to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. The Currency Segment will be closed for trading on this day. However, other segments are open to trading.

What this means for you:

You can place your Trades as usual, except the stock purchased on 18-Feb-25 will not be allowed to be sold on 19-Feb-25. The settlement of funds/securities will be processed as detailed in the table below:

Segment

Trade Placed On

18-Feb-25

20-Feb-25

Note: Stock purchased on 18-Feb-25 will not be allowed to be sold on 19-Feb-25. This change is only for double pay-in/payout of stock due to the settlement holiday on 19-Feb-25 and is not a regular change.

Just so you know: Settlement holidays refer to days when markets (except the Currency segment) are open for trading but when Depositories and/or Banks are closed. Due to this, all trades made during that day will be settled in the next settlement cycle, as per the respective segments.

According to the exchange circular NCL/CMPT/65314, the benefit of a calendar spread on the expiry day of the near-term index derivatives contract will not be available w.e.f. 10-Feb-25 (revised). This revision is due to the updated effective date mentioned in the new exchange circular. This will apply only to the expiry day of the near-term contract and the T-day expiry contracts.

It is to be noted here that due to the removal of the benefit of the calendar spread, the total margin requirement on the calendar hedge position will increase significantly. You are advised to maintain a sufficient margin; otherwise, positions will be squared off on the expiry day under Margin Shortfall Square Off as per RMS policy on a best-effort basis.
