On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are expected to open on a cautious note followed by mixed performance from global markets and a rise in US dollar index. At 08:07 AM, Gift Nifty was trading down by 0.18% at 23,629.

Previous Trading Session

On November 13, 2024, the Sensex declined 984.23 points, or 1.25%, to close at 77,690.95, while the Nifty 50 fell by 324.40 points, or 1.36%, ending at 23,559.05.

FII and DIIs

On November 13, 2024, DIIs bought securities worth ₹14,095.16 crore, while FIIs sold securities worth ₹17,680.75 crore.

Put Call Ratio (PCR)

Nifty’s PCR has shifted to 0.55  in the previous session. A PCR ratio below 0.7 or heading toward 0.5 denotes a bearish trend, whereas a ratio above 0.7 or approaching 1 typically suggests a positive sentiment.

The increasing PCR, which is higher than 0.7 or surpasses 1, means traders are selling more Put options than Call options, which generally indicates the firming up of a bullish sentiment in the market. If the ratio falls below 0.7 or moves towards 0.5, then it indicates selling Call Options is higher than selling Put options, reflecting a bearish mood in the market.

Oil Prices

Meanwhile, crude oil prices slipped slightly amid concerns over weak demand growth and a stronger dollar. Brent crude futures dipped 0.08% to $72.22 per barrel, while U.S. WTI crude futures dropped 0.19% to $68.30 per barrel.

Asian Markets

Asian markets traded mixed on Thursday, mirroring Wall Street’s overnight response to the latest U.S. inflation data for October. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose by 0.74% and the Topix gained 0.58%.

US Markets

In the U.S. stock market, Wednesday’s session ended mixed following inflation data that aligned with expectations. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 47.21 points, or 0.11%, to close at 43,958.19. The S&P 500 gained 1.39 points, or 0.02%, to finish at 5,985.38, while the Nasdaq Composite declined by 50.66 points, or 0.26%, to settle at 19,230.74.
