On Friday, October 25, 2024, the benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open flat amid mixed global market cues. At 08:10 AM, Gift Nifty traded almost flat 0.01% up to 24,459.

Previous Trading Session

On October 24,  2024, The BSE Sensex dropped 16.82  points or 0.02% to settle at 80,065.16, while the Nifty 50 declined 36.10 points or 0.15% to end at 24,399.40.

FII and DIIs

On October 24, 2024, DIIs bought securities worth ₹3,620.47 crore, while FIIs sold securities worth ₹5,062.45 crore.

Put Call Ratio (PCR)

Nifty’s PCR has shifted to 0.76  in the previous session. A PCR ratio below 0.7 or heading toward 0.5 denotes a bearish trend, whereas a ratio above 0.7 or approaching 1 typically suggests a positive sentiment.

The increasing PCR, which is higher than 0.7 or surpasses 1, means traders are selling more Put options than Call options, which generally indicates the firming up of a bullish sentiment in the market. If the ratio falls below 0.7 or moves towards 0.5, then it indicates selling Call Options is higher than selling Put options, reflecting a bearish mood in the market.

Crude and Gold Prices

Crude oil prices increased in the energy markets and are expected to climb more than 1% per week. US West Texas Intermediate crude was up 0.6% at $70.62 a barrel, while Brent crude futures increased 0.6% to $74.83 a barrel.  Due to demand for safe-haven assets, gold prices stabilised on Friday but remained on track for a weekly increase. Spot gold, at $2,733.63 an ounce, was barely altered. Prices were up 0.5% so far this week and reached a record high of $2,758.37 on Wednesday.

Asian Markets

Ahead of Japan’s general election this weekend, Asian markets were mixed on Friday. The Topix dipped 0.41% while Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.52%. The Kosdaq increased 0.42% and the South Korean stock exchange’s Kospi jumped 1%. Futures for Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index pointed to a little worse opening.

US Markets

On October 24, 2024, the S&P 500 increased 12.44 points, or 0.21%, to 5,809.86, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 140.59 points, or 0.33%, to 42,374.36. At 18,415.49., the Nasdaq Composite closed 138.83 points, or 0.76%, higher.
