On June 9, 2024, Adani Enterprises Ltd informed in a stock exchange filing that the company’s subsidiary, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), successfully handled 1 million tonnes of air cargo in the fiscal year 2023-2024. This milestone highlights AAHL’s strong operational capabilities and strategic growth in the aviation sector.

The company stated that AAHL facilitated a remarkable 10,13,115 metric tonnes of cargo in FY 2023-24, demonstrating solid growth and capturing an impressive 30.1% market share. This represents a significant 7% y-o-y increase compared to the previous fiscal when the total cargo tonnage was 9,44,912 metric tonnes.

In FY 2023-2024, AAHL’s cargo operations were primarily international, with 65% being international cargo managed. This demonstrates AAHL’s proficiency in handling global operations while sustaining a strong domestic presence. The international cargo tonnage reached 6,62,258 metric tonnes, marking a significant 9% year-on-year growth compared to the previous fiscal’s 6,06,348 metric tonnes.

The cargo operations were driven by commodities, including automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electricals/electronics, and engineering goods. They were efficiently handled across the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad), the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow), the Mangaluru International Airport, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, the Jaipur International Airport and the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati).

The cargo operations were fueled by commodities such as automobiles, pharmaceuticals, perishables, electronics, and engineering goods. These commodities were efficiently managed across multiple airports, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (Mumbai), Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (Ahmedabad), Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Lucknow), Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, Mangaluru International Airport, Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati), and Jaipur International Airport.

The major international destinations for cargo included the Netherlands, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.

Commenting on the achievement, the CEO of AAHL, Mr Arun Bansal, said, “At Adani Airport Holdings Limited, we have been consistently setting new benchmarks for operational efficiency. The cargo terminals have achieved a remarkable milestone, handling over 1 million tonnes this fiscal year. This achievement solidifies our position as key facilitators in both international and domestic airfreight operations in India.”
