Adani Wilmar Limited (AWL) is an Indian multinational conglomerate in the food and beverage sector, headquartered in Ahmedabad. Established in 1999, it is a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and Wilmar International. The company is India’s largest palm oil processor and it operates 22 plants across 10 states as of 2022. Adani Wilmar Limited’s product range includes cooking oils, wheat flour, and other food items, which are exported to various regions including the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. 

Adani Wilmar Ltd. a joint venture between India’s Adani Group and Singapore’s Wilmar International, has put its proposed share sale on hold. The sale, meant to reduce the joint venture’s majority ownership from 86.8% to 75%, was planned to comply with Indian securities regulations requiring at least 25% of shares to be held by public investors within three years of a company’s listing. Adani Wilmar, listed in 2022, was expected to complete this sale by next year February.

Adani Wilmar Limited’s stock is currently trading at Rs.311.30 and is up by 7% from its previous day’s closing price. The stock has made an intraday high of Rs.317.95 today. Over the past one month, the stock has decreased by about 4%. Looking at the past one-year performance, it has dropped by more than 10%. The stock has a 52-week high and a 52-week low of Rs.410.50 and Rs.279.00 per share respectively.

Conclusion: Adani Wilmar Ltd. has postponed its planned share sale, originally scheduled for November 2024. The company, is required to reduce its majority stake to comply with Indian securities laws. Adani Wilmar’s current ownership is significantly above the 75% limit, with its majority stakeholders holding 86.8%.
