Bharti Airtel Limited has announced a partnership of Airtel Digital TV with Glance, a leading consumer technology company, to launch Glance TV. This collaboration brings a revolutionary new feature to the connected TV (CTV) industry, transforming idle TV screens into dynamic, AI-powered smart surfaces. The platform, which was first introduced in India, redefines how connected TVs engage users, offering personalised and live content even when the TV is not actively in use.
Unlike traditional static screens, Glance TV provides a highly immersive experience that delivers live, real-time, and personalised content tailored to the individual user’s interests. The feature ensures that TV screens remain engaging, turning passive moments into active experiences. Whether the TV is on standby or not being used for entertainment, Glance TV ensures continuous engagement by offering a constant stream of relevant content.
Available exclusively on Airtel Xstream devices powered by Android TV OS, Glance TV marks Airtel’s first partnership in this venture. In its first phase of deployment, the feature has been rolled out on over one million Airtel Xstream devices, with users spending an average of 200 minutes per day across three sessions. By June 2025, the platform aims to be available on four million devices in India, with plans to extend into select global markets soon after.
Glance TV offers a diverse range of content sourced from top publishers, including breaking news, entertainment, sports, business, financial updates, automobiles, and technology. The platform keeps users informed with live updates on sports scores, statistics, and scorecards, ensuring that sports enthusiasts never miss out on real-time information. Additionally, it features a weather widget, offering essential daily updates, and helping users plan their day accordingly.
Currently available in English, Glance TV focuses on delivering live content that users can easily access without interrupting their viewing experience. This always-on nature ensures that the content is constantly relevant and personalised, keeping users connected with the information that matters to them the most.
The connected TV market in India is rapidly expanding, with over 40 million connected TVs in use by 2024. The rise of affordable smart TVs and improved internet connectivity has been a key driver in this growth. With the increasing penetration of connected TVs, platforms like Glance TV are poised to become integral parts of the digital ecosystem, redefining content consumption and engaging users in new, innovative ways.
On December 11, 2024, Bharti Airtel share price opened at ₹1,588.00, touching the day’s high at ₹1,588.00, as of 10:24 AM on the NSE.
