BCL Industries Limited has announced its strategic acquisition of Goyal Distillery Private Ltd, located in Fatehabad, Haryana. This acquisition aligns with BCL’s vision of expanding its production capabilities in the ethanol manufacturing sector.

Goyal Distillery holds the necessary land and approvals for setting up a 250 KLPD (kilolitres per day) grain-based ethanol plant. In addition to this, BCL plans to build a power plant that will utilise paddy straw as the primary fuel source.

This acquisition is expected to provide BCL with a strategic advantage, as all required clearances for the plant are already in place, allowing the distillery to be commissioned in nearly half the time typically required. Once completed, BCL’s total distillery capacity will increase from the current 700 KLPD to 1,100 KLPD. This expansion includes an additional 150 KLPD at its existing Bathinda unit and 250 KLPD at the newly acquired Fatehabad facility.

The acquisition strengthens BCL’s position as a leader in the grain-based ethanol sector in India. Post-acquisition, Goyal Distillery will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of BCL Industries Ltd. This expansion aligns with the Indian government’s push for increasing ethanol production to meet its target of 20% ethanol blending in petrol by 2025.

Beyond ethanol production, BCL is committed to sustainability and green energy initiatives. As part of this expansion, the company plans to establish a biogas plant with a capacity of approximately 20 MTPD (metric tons per day). This biogas plant, situated on an adjacent 9-acre plot of land specifically acquired for this purpose, will use around 250 MT of paddy straw daily. The biogas plant will reinforce BCL’s dedication to renewable energy solutions and sustainable practices.

The total capital expenditure (Capex) for the Fatehabad distillery and biogas plant is estimated at ₹350 crore, with the expected project timeline being around 20 months from the groundbreaking date. This expansion will contribute to BCL’s long-term growth in both ethanol production and green energy solutions.
