BCPL Railway Secures ₹710 Million Project for Electrification Upgrade in Kharagpur Division

On September 11, 2024, BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited announced that it had secured a new project for upgrading the electric traction system in the Kharagpur-Bhadrak section of the Kharagpur Division under the South Eastern Railway. The project is being carried out for Rail Vikas Nigam Limited.

The contract involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of an upgrade to the electric traction system from 1 x 25 KV to 2 x 25 KV to support a 3000 MT loading target. The total project value is ₹710.08 million, and the work is expected to be completed within 16 months.

Commenting on the same, Chairman, Mr Aparesh Nandi, said, “We at BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited are delighted to notify our stakeholders on our recent order intake for the upgradation of Electric Traction System in Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway under Rail Vikas Nigam Limited to enable safe running of trains at augmented speed of 160 km per hour. The value of this order is  ₹710.08 million, and we are quite optimistic about the pipeline of orders in the coming months in the near future also.” 

He further added, “We, at BCPL, have recommended our unparalleled services contributing towards connecting the diverse parts of India, especially connecting the Northeast and rural parts of the country, and we are confident we can continue serving the Indian Railway sector in the future. We are quite optimistic about similar projects to come on a PAN India basis. There is a constant flow of railway work, including EPC orders, modification work, laying of new lines, the addition of 3 and 4™ lines in the existing railway tracks, and an increase in the speed of existing railway lines, and we are optimistic that there will be no paucity of workflow in the near future.”
