Birla Opus Paints, under the flagship of Grasim Industries, has marked a significant milestone by inaugurating its fourth manufacturing plant in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka. This development not only expands its production capabilities but also solidifies its position as India’s second-largest decorative paints manufacturer by installed capacity.

State-of-the-Art Manufacturing at Chamarajanagar

The new plant boasts an installed capacity of 230 MLPA, producing water-based paints, solvent-based paints, and wood finishes. With advanced in-house raw material synthesis, the facility is designed to deliver innovative features like:

  • Multi-stain resistance
  • High durability
  • Superior gloss and crack-bridge ability
  • Enhanced dirt resistance

In addition, the plant employs 4th-generation manufacturing technology, ensuring zero defects, lightning-speed supply chain management, and end-to-end traceability.

Commitment to Sustainability

Aligned with global environmental standards, the Chamarajanagar plant is a fully sustainable facility with zero liquid discharge. This reflects the company’s commitment to eco-friendly practices and sustainable growth.

Strategic Expansion to Meet Rising Demand

This plant is part of Birla Opus Paints’ ambitious plan to establish six strategically located facilities across India, with a total capacity of 1,332 MLPA. Four plants are now operational, contributing a combined capacity of 866 MLPA. The remaining plants in Mahad (Pune) and Kharagpur (Kolkata) are progressing as planned.

Innovative Product Portfolio

With over 129 products launched and 900+ SKUs already in the market, the Chamarajanagar facility will further diversify the product line. The plant introduces exclusive offerings such as:

  • Factory-made Indian PU wood finishes
  • Special shades of enamel paints
  • Cost-efficient logistics to improve market responsiveness

Strengthening Distribution

Birla Opus Paints is now available in over 4,300 towns nationwide, ensuring extensive reach across urban and rural markets. This robust distribution network supports the company’s vision of becoming a market leader in the decorative paints industry.
