Closing Bell: Sensex Falls 548 Points, Nifty Closes Down at 23,381.60 on February 10, 2025

On Feb 10, the sensex closed 548 pts lower at 77,311.80, while Nifty ended at 23,381.60. Kotak Mahindra Bank, Airtel gained; Trent, Power Grid Corporation fell.

On February 10, 2025, Indian stock markets ended lower In a significant escalation of his trade policy, US President Donald Trump revealed, the United States would impose a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imports, with additional metal duties expected to be announced later in the week.

The BSE Sensex closed at 77,311.80, marking a decline of 548.39 points, or 0.70%, reflecting overall market weakness. Similarly, the Nifty 50 ended at 23,381.60, down by 178.35 points, or 0.76%.

Throughout the trading session, the Nifty 50 experienced fluctuations, opening at 23,543.80, peaking at 23,568.60, and dipping to a low of 23,316.30.

Top Gainers and Losers

Among the gainers, Kotak Bank saw an increase of 1.74%, closing at ₹1962.85. Bharti Airtel also posted a gain of 1.06%, ending at ₹1694.5, the leading telecom service provider, is exiting from the low-margin commodity voice and messaging business

On the losing side, Trent saw a significant decline of 4.48%, closing at ₹5210, with a trading volume of 15,29,751 shares. PowerGrid followed with a drop of 3.27%, ending at ₹269.05.

Tata Steel lost 3.18%, closing at ₹133.91. ONGC also experienced a decline, with a 2.43% drop, closing at ₹242.85. These stocks saw significant sell-offs during the session.

Sectoral Performance

The Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indices dropped by 2% each. All sectoral indices closed lower, with metal, media, pharma, consumer durables, energy, and realty sectors falling by 2% each.

Oil Prices

As of February 10, 2025, at 04:30 PM, Brent Crude was trading at $75.6, up by 1.26%.
