The mutual fund industry continues to attract significant attention from investors. According to the latest AMFI data for February, equity-oriented schemes demonstrated a notable 23% month-on-month growth, increasing from Rs 21,780.56 crore to Rs 26,865.78 crore. This growth also reflects an impressive 71% year-on-year increase.

However, the three categories, namely Large, Mid, and Small Cap segments, have shown a decline in month-on-month growth, with decreases of 28%, 12%, and 10%, respectively.

Moving on to the next category, debt-oriented schemes registered a decline of 17% MoM, decreasing from Rs 76,468.96 to Rs 63,808.82 crore. However, this particular category regained momentum on a YoY basis, experiencing a remarkable growth of 562%.

In the Hybrid Schemes, a magnificent year-on-year growth has been observed, witnessing an increase of around 3833%, from Rs 460.32 crore inflows in Feb 2023 to Rs 18,105 crore inflows in Feb 2024. However, there was a decline of 12% MoM in Feb 2024.

In the Other Schemes category, which includes index funds, ETFs, and similar instruments, a significant MoM growth of 145% has been observed, rising from Rs 3982.85 crore to Rs 9,756.08 crore. However, the category recorded a growth of 50% YoY in Feb 2024.

Net AUM Growth:

The total assets under management (AUM) of mutual funds increased by approximately 3.42% and stood at Rs 54.54 lakh crore in February, compared to Rs 52.74 lakh crore in January. Furthermore, the AUM of mutual funds increased from Rs 39.46 lakh crore to Rs 54.54 lakh crore, representing a significant growth of 38% YoY.

SIP:

February 2024 witnessed a new record high in SIP contributions, with monthly contributions reaching Rs 19,186.58 crore, compared to Rs 18,838.33 crore in January.

The SIP AUM experienced a surge of 2.49% in February, reaching Rs 10.52 lakh crore. The number of SIP accounts reached an all-time high of 820.17 lakh in February, compared to 791.71 lakh in January.
