GAIL (India) Limited and AM Green BV (AMG) have come together to give India’s green energy transition a big boost. Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), they’re on a mission to make sustainable energy solutions a reality, focusing especially on CO2 supply and hybrid renewable energy. Let’s dive into what this partnership is all about!

eMethanol: Pioneering Green Fuel Production

Imagine using captured carbon to produce a clean, renewable fuel. That’s what GAIL and AM Green are up to with their plans for eMethanol production. They’re exploring the potential to use around 350 KTA of CO2 from GAIL’s gas processing plants to produce this eco-friendly fuel. Not only does eMethanol help reduce carbon emissions, but it also makes way for a circular economy, where waste gets turned into value.

Powering Up with Renewable Energy

On top of that, they’re aiming big with renewable energy projects—2.5 GW of hybrid solar and wind energy, to be precise. These projects will be integrated with Greenko’s Pump Storage Projects to deliver constant power, even when the weather isn’t suitable. This consistent power supply will hold great importance for industries, including those producing eMethanol, ensuring India’s energy future is as reliable as it is green.

India’s Decarbonization Mission

AM Green isn’t stopping at eMethanol. They’ve also got their sights set on green ammonia, aiming for a capacity of 5 MTPA by 2030. That’s roughly 1 MTPA of green hydrogen, all part of India’s broader National Green Hydrogen Mission and also supporting Europe’s green hydrogen needs. With renewable energy like solar, wind, and hydro backing their production, they’re setting standards for green chemical manufacturing.

Conclusion: In conclusion, this partnership is more than just an MoU—it’s a statement of intent from GAIL and AM Green. They’re tackling carbon emissions head-on, pushing forward with renewable energy, and leading the charge in sustainable chemical production.
