Godrej Consumer Products Ltd Q1 FY 2025: 14% Net Profit Growth, New ₹500 Crore Pet Care Venture

On August 07, 2024, Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL), a major FMCG company in emerging markets, announced its financial results for the quarter ending June 30, 2024.

In Q1 FY 2025, Godrej Consumer Products Limited saw various segment performances. In India, organic volume increased by 8% and reported volume by 10%, with reported sales rising 9% year-on-year.

Indonesia’s volumes grew by 7%, and sales increased by 11% in constant currency terms. However, sales in Africa, the USA, and the Middle East dropped by 25% in INR terms and 10% in constant currency terms. In contrast, Latin America and SAARC sales grew by 7% in INR terms and 147% in constant currency terms. GCPL’s consolidated EBITDA grew by 13% year-on-year, and the consolidated net profit, excluding exceptional items and one-offs, increased by 14% year-on-year.

Godrej Consumer Products also announced that it is entering the pet care market in India with a new venture, Godrej Pet Care (GPC), a subsidiary of GCPL. The pet care industry, worth around ₹5,000 crore, is expected to see strong double-digit growth for the next several decades. GCPL plans to invest ₹500 crore in GPC over the next 5 years, with Godrej Agrovet Limited (GAVL) serving as the manufacturing and R&D partner. The business is set to start in the second half of FY 2026.

In Q1 FY 2025, GCPL’s EBITDA for the quarter grew by 8%, while the net profit, excluding exceptions and one-offs, increased by 5%.

In Q1 FY 2025, GCPL’s Home Care grew by 8%, led by air fresheners and fabric care, while Personal Care grew by 6%, driven by strong performance in Magic Handwash and hair colours.
