India’s Construction Industry Outlook

India’s construction industry is on track to become one of the world’s top three by 2025, according to Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri. Solid waste processing has witnessed a remarkable increase, rising from 17% in 2014 to over 77% in 2024. Comprehensive guidelines have been released across the value chain to address various waste management issues, including C&D waste.

Strides in C&D Waste Management

Minister Puri highlighted the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ efforts to revolutionize C&D waste management practices. Initiatives include collecting data on C&D waste generation, promoting source separation, and establishing institutional mechanisms for waste collection. Notably, the National Capital Region (NCR) alone generates 6,303 TPD (Tons Per Day) of C&D waste, with 78% of it processed daily.
