Infosys, a global leader in next-generation digital services and consulting, is revolutionising healthcare access in Japan through a strategic collaboration with Nihon Chouzai (TSE), the country’s leading dispensing pharmacy chain. This partnership focuses on developing innovative solutions to enhance online medication guidance and streamline payment processes.

NiCOMS: A Pioneering Telemedicine Platform

Central to this collaboration is the NiCOMS mobile application, a pioneering telemedicine service developed by Infosys. NiCOMS empowers patients across Japan to receive remote medication guidance from registered pharmacists, eliminating the need for frequent in-person visits. This not only enhances convenience but also reduces the burden on the healthcare system.

Mobile Integration and User Experience

Leveraging the success of the web version launched in September 2020, which boasts over 1.8 million registered users, Infosys has developed a user-friendly mobile application for NiCOMS. This mobile app seamlessly integrates with OkusuriTechoPlus, Nihon Chouzai’s digital medication notebook, by merging account and authentication processes for a unified and convenient user experience.

Adaptability and Accessibility at the Forefront

Infosys adopted an agile development approach for the NiCOMS mobile app. This methodology allowed for continuous improvement and adaptation to evolving healthcare regulations in Japan, further bolstered by the ongoing impact of COVID-19.

A Commitment to Inclusive Healthcare

The NiCOMS platform prioritises inclusivity. The online medication guidance service features video calls with pharmacists, allowing for clear communication and medication consultations. Additionally, the responsive user interface ensures compatibility across various devices, operating systems, and browsers, making NiCOMS accessible to a broad range of users.

“Our collaboration with Infosys complements our best-in-class solution and gives it a new scale with the pioneering NiCOMS platform and its ability to bring positive experiences to our customers. What started a few years ago with the web version is now further strengthened by Infosys’ agility and expertise in digital transformation, which has helped us realise our vision for a one-of-a-kind telemedicine service,” said Kunihiko Kurihara, Executive Officer, General Manager of IT Department, NIHON CHOUZAI CO., LTD.

“Together with Nihon Chouzai, we are forging the future of digital healthcare in Japan through innovative solutions. This alliance will offer enhanced online medical services and increase access to quality pharmaceutical interventions, with an aim towards making a significant impact at scale,” said Hideyuki Aoki, Vice President, Country Head – Japan, Infosys,
