Infosys, the global IT services firm, announced a partnership with German energy service provider RheinEnergie on December 12, 2024. This collaboration took place to help enterprises accelerate energy transition and meet sustainability goals by leveraging technology and expertise. Infosys shares were trading at ₹1,989.25, up ₹2.25 (0.11%) at noon today, with gains of 28.23% year-to-date and 37.28% over the past year.
The initiative will utilise Infosys Energy Cloud, a component of the Infosys Cobalt suite, along with Infosys Topaz, an AI-first solution built on Generative AI technologies. These tools will help enterprises to boost energy efficiency by up to 30-40% and achieve decarbonisation targets.
RheinEnergie will bring its expertise in energy services, helping businesses monitor, control, and optimise their energy usage while aligning with decarbonisation objectives. The partnership will focus on decentralising energy systems by integrating renewable generation, storage, energy markets, grids, and energy-consuming assets. Targeted industries include travel and transportation, commercial real estate, and manufacturing.
The collaboration will aim to provide actionable insights for enterprises, allowing them to reduce energy consumption, optimise low-carbon energy source selection, and improve overall efficiency. This aligns with Germany’s broader energy strategy to transition to a low-carbon, nuclear-free economy.
Stephan Segbers, Chief Sales Officer at RheinEnergie, talked about the importance of digital and technological solutions in achieving Germany’s energy goals. Ashiss Kumar Dash, Executive Vice President at Infosys, highlighted the company’s role in helping European enterprises adapt to the evolving energy landscape.
This partnership is part of Infosys’s larger strategy of leveraging technologies. In 2024, Infosys collaborated with ServiceNow for AI-powered industry solutions and expanded its partnership with NVIDIA to deliver customer-centric solutions using AI. Additionally, Infosys is integrating small language models for banking and IT operations through Sarvam AI and exploring AI-driven code development with GitHub Copilot.
