ITI Limited Secures ₹300 Crore Solar Street Light Order, Expands EVM Business

ITI Limited, the country’s first PSU established after independence and a leading telecom manufacturer, has secured an order worth around ₹300 crore from the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority (BREDA). This order is for the supply and installation of 1,00,000 solar street lights for the Bihar State Government. It adds to the 80,000 solar street lights that the company is already installing in Bihar under a previous project.

ITI Limited’s Naini Plant, which has been producing solar panels for 6 years, will handle this new order under the “Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana.” The project covers several districts, including Gopalganj, Siwan, Samastipur, Purnia, Araria, Gaya, Darbhanga, Patna, Katihar, and Khagaria.

The solar street light systems will be installed under the supervision of the Bihar Renewable Energy Development Authority (BREDA). The main components of these systems include solar PV modules, solar batteries, LED lights, mounting structures, and other necessary parts.

ITI Limited recently received its first order for Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) from the State Election Commission (SEC) of West Bengal. This order follows a successful demonstration of the machines to the SEC in Kolkata.
