ITI Limited, a telecom manufacturing leader, has secured a contract worth approximately ₹95 Crores from the Directorate of Geology & Mining, Government of Uttarakhand. The contract is for the implementation of a Mining Digital Transformation & Surveillance System (MDTSS) aimed at combating illegal mining and mineral transportation while enhancing revenue generation for the state.
The Mining Digital Transformation & Surveillance System (MDTSS) project is part of the Uttarakhand government’s broader strategy to tackle illegal mining activities. The system is designed to effectively monitor and regulate mining operations, ensuring that only legal activities are conducted and improving the tracking of mineral transportation. The project is expected to increase the state’s revenue from mining operations significantly.
Under the contract terms, ITI Limited will serve as the work agency for the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the MDTSS across four key districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital. The contract, valued at Rs. 95 Crores, spans a period of 5 years. ITI will oversee the installation and integration of advanced surveillance systems at 40 designated check gates across these districts.
The surveillance system will be deployed across the following districts with the installation of check gates:
These strategically located check gates will play a crucial role in monitoring the flow of minerals and detecting illegal activities at key transit points.
The MDTSS will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as bullet cameras, RFID radars, and LED floodlights. This advanced surveillance infrastructure will not only help in tracking illegal mining activities but will also bolster the state’s efforts to improve its revenue from the mining sector by ensuring transparency and compliance with regulations.
To oversee the operations of the MDTSS, a Mining State Control Centre (MSCC) will be established in Dehradun. In addition, mini command centres will be set up at district headquarters in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar. These centres will monitor real-time data from the check gates, facilitating immediate responses to any illegal mining or transportation activities and enhancing overall efficiency in managing the state’s mining operations.
Speaking on this new contract win, Mr Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director, ITI Limited, said, “It gives me a great sense of satisfaction to see that the Government of Uttarakhand has selected ITI as its technology partner in its efforts to curb illegal mining. ITI will leverage its strong technology domain expertise to help the Uttarakhand Government achieve its objectives. We are also exploring such projects with other states where we can help them.”
On November 19, 2024, ITI shares opened at ₹299.05 and touched the day high of ₹301.60 at 11:40 AM
