John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL), a global leader in industrial engineering, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), India’s largest government-owned steel producer. This collaboration aims to transform the steel industry through innovative and sustainable solutions, focusing on decarbonisation and advanced technology integration.

Focus Areas: Building a Greener Steel Industry

Under this agreement, JCIL and SAIL will jointly explore multiple avenues to promote sustainable practices in steel manufacturing. Key initiatives include:

  • Green Steel Production: Exploring joint ventures in cold rolling and processing for carbon steel, including specialised green and silicon steel types such as CRGO and CRNO.
  • Green Hydrogen Integration: Evaluating the potential of green hydrogen in transforming iron and steelmaking processes.
  • Advanced Technologies: Incorporating JCIL’s state-of-the-art processing technologies into SAIL’s future projects.

This partnership underscores a shared commitment to decarbonising the steel industry and positioning Indian steel producers as global leaders.
