JSW Energy Limited has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy Limited (JSW Neo), has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) to establish a 192 MW Grid-connected Hybrid Power Project.

This project includes an additional 96 MW under the green shoe option. The capacity was awarded through a tariff-based competitive bid for setting up 500 MW Grid-connected Hybrid Power Projects (Phase II) with an additional green shoe option for up to 500 MW.

With this new capacity, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity increases to 16.2 GW. This includes a total locked-in Hybrid capacity of 2.1 GW. The company currently has an operational capacity of 7.5 GW and aims to reach an installed generation capacity of 10 GW by FY25. This significant increase in capacity underlines JSW Energy’s commitment to expanding its energy solution offerings and progressing towards becoming a comprehensive energy products and services company.

JSW Energy’s 16.2 GW locked-in generation capacity comprises 7.5 GW operational, 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro projects, and a renewable energy (RE) pipeline of 6.3 GW, with power purchase agreements (PPAs) signed for 2.0 GW. Additionally, the company boasts 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through its battery energy storage system and hydro-pumped storage projects. These developments are part of JSW Energy’s broader strategy to diversify its energy portfolio and enhance its capabilities in energy storage solutions.

Looking ahead, JSW Energy has set an ambitious goal to achieve a total generation capacity of 20 GW and an energy storage capacity of 40 GWh by 2030. This expansion is crucial to the company’s long-term vision of sustainability and energy efficiency. Furthermore, JSW Energy has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, emphasising its dedication to reducing carbon emissions and contributing to global climate change mitigation efforts.

By advancing its hybrid power projects and investing in energy storage technologies, JSW Energy is positioning itself at the forefront of the transition to renewable energy, ensuring a stable and sustainable energy future for its stakeholders and the communities it serves.
