JSW Energy Limited announced in a stock exchange filing that its wholly-owned subsidiary, JSW Neo Energy Limited, has secured a significant project by receiving the Letter of Award (LoA) for setting up a 250 MW Grid-connected Wind Power Project from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML). This award was obtained through a Tariff-based Competitive Bid process, marking another milestone in JSW Energy’s strategic expansion in the renewable energy sector.
With this new project, JSW Energy’s total locked-in generation capacity has now increased to 17.0 GW. This includes 4.7 GW of wind capacity, of which 2.0 GW is currently operational. The company remains on track to achieve its goal of 10 GW of installed generation capacity by FY25, up from the existing 7.5 GW. This growth underscores JSW Energy’s commitment to expanding its portfolio and transitioning towards becoming a comprehensive energy products and services company.
JSW Energy’s overall generation capacity portfolio is well-diversified. The current 17.0 GW locked-in capacity includes 7.5 GW of operational assets, 2.3 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro projects, and a renewable energy (RE) pipeline of 7.1 GW, with Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) signed for 2.3 GW. Additionally, the company is making significant strides in energy storage, with 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through its battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects.
Looking forward, JSW Energy has set an ambitious target of achieving a total generation capacity of 20 GW and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. This goal aligns with the company’s broader vision of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050. Through these efforts, JSW Energy is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable energy, contributing to a cleaner and more reliable energy future.
