JSW Steel Recorded Another Milestone: Production Increased in April 2024

JSW Steel Limited, a flagship company of JSW Group, recently announced its monthly production for April 2024 through an exchange filing dated May 11, 2024. The company recorded consolidated Crude Steel production for the month at 21.21 Lakh tonnes, reflecting a YoY growth of 0.4%. The capacity utilisation at its Indian Operations stood at 88% for the month. Iron ore availability constraints from Karnataka mines at Vijayanagar impacted the production volumes.

With a 9% YoY increase, JSW Steel has produced 26.43 million tonnes of consolidated crude steel, its biggest amount to date. With a 3% YoY increase, crude steel production for Q4 FY 24 was 6.79 million tonnes. At the Indian Operations level, capacity utilisation was 93% in Q4 of FY 24. Better volumes were recorded on a YoY and QoQ basis by JSW Steel USA – Ohio.

Looking Ahead

JSW Steel began as a single manufacturing facility thirty years ago and has since expanded to become the largest integrated steel firm in India, with 29.7 MTPA of capacity in both India and the USA. By FY25, it anticipates growing to 38.5 MTPA overall during its next expansion phase in India. The company’s manufacturing complex in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, which now has a capacity of 12.5 MTPA, is the largest steel-producing facility in India in a single site.

JSW Steel is committed to becoming carbon neutral for all operations under its direct control by 2050 and plans to cut its CO2 emissions from steel-making by 42% by 2030. By 2030, JSW Steel wants to be at the forefront of the energy shift by using only renewable energy to power its steelmaking activities.
