Kmew’s Southern Expansion: Securing Debut Contract At V.O. Chidambaranar Port

On June 10, 2024, Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd (KMEW) was granted a Letter of Award (LOA) from the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority. This award is for supplying, staffing, operating, and maintaining a high-speed patrol boat (HSPB) with a speed of 20 knots or more on a rental basis for 5 years. The total value of this contract is ₹5.86 crore.

The company has won its first contract in South India from V.O. Chidambaranar Port. This Port plays a significant role in Tamil Nadu and ranks second in the state. This achievement boosts the KMEW’s reputation and influence in the maritime sector. This contract proves the KMEW’s expertise in delivering high-speed patrol boats, as seen in previous successes at Vizag Port and Paradip Port. It also marks its fourth victory, strengthening its position in this specialised field.

This contract will expand the company’s fleet to 27 vessels and its clientele to 15, including ports, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and ministries from three countries.

Following the contract win, the company will deploy its 27th vessel, a newly built one with a lifespan of 20 years. Work will begin within 180 days of receiving the order.
