Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd. (KMEW) has further solidified its position as a leader in the Indian dredging industry by securing a new contract from the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI). This project involves capital dredging work at Paradip Port, valued at ₹7,49,50,000.

This latest award builds upon KMEW’s successful track record of collaboration with DCI. It is a testament to the company’s proven expertise and commitment to delivering high-quality dredging solutions. The project will be executed within 4 months, excluding the monsoon season.

Expanding Capabilities at Paradip Port

The contract specifically focuses on capital dredging activities within the North Dock Complex area of Paradip Port. This project will involve the removal of hard patches, ensuring optimal navigational depths and operational efficiency for larger vessels. KMEW’s experience in both capital and maintenance dredging positions them perfectly to execute this critical project.

Demonstrating Operational Excellence

KMEW’s strategic approach to asset utilisation is further highlighted by its deployment plan. The project will leverage the company’s existing vessel, the River Pearl 2, a Grab Hopper Dredger previously deployed at Kolkata Port. Notably, the River Pearl 2 generated a full-year revenue of Rs. 4.5 crores at its prior location. This new contract, valued at Rs. 7.49 crores, will be completed within a shorter four-month timeframe, maximising the vessel’s earning potential.

Continued Growth and Industry Leadership

This successful contract win signifies KMEW’s commitment to continuous growth and industry leadership. The string of project wins in FY 2025 underscores their growing reputation for reliability and operational efficiency. By strategically deploying its existing fleet and exceeding project expectations, KMEW positions itself as a trusted partner for critical dredging projects across India.

“We are thrilled to announce our new contract for our existing vessel, River Pearl 2. Our focus on exploring new segments complements our steadfast dedication to our traditional business areas. This dual approach allows us to employ our extensive expertise and ensure timely execution in all our endeavours. A key aspect of our strategy is the effective utilisation of our advanced equipment, such as the Grab Hopper Dredger River Pearl 2,” said Mr Sujay Kewalramani, CEO of Knowledge Marine & Engineering Works Ltd.

He further added, “We are also pleased to highlight our focus on strengthening asset utilisation, which has enabled us to win continuous orders and keep our dredgers actively engaged. This strategy not only optimises the use of our assets but also ensures the successful execution of our projects, reinforcing our leadership in the industry.”
