On Wednesday, the benchmark indices were trading higher with Sensex up around 178 points or 0.28% at 63,505 and the Nifty trading up by 38 points or 0.20% at 18,855. About 2,047 shares have advanced, 753 declined, and 124 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Wipro Ltd, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and HDFC Bank whereas the top Sensex losers were Tata Steel Ltd, NTPC Ltd and Asian Paints Ltd.
The BSE Consumer Discretionary Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and BSE Metals Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Consumer Discretionary Index soared 0.58%, led by Subros Ltd and HPL Electric Power Ltd while the BSE Metals Index was down 0.67% dragged down by JSW Steel Ltd and APL Apollo Tubes Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading flat, with the BSE Mid-cap index up 0.94% and the BSE Small-cap index up 0.72%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were Piramal Enterprises Ltd and Shriram Finance Ltd while the top small-cap gainers were Subros Ltd and Ddev Plastiks Industries Ltd.
