MosChip Awarded ₹509.37 Crore Contract for 5nm HPC SoC Development

MosChip Technologies informed the stock exchanges that it secured a ₹509.37 crore contract from the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC). The project duration is 3 years (4 years including support and maintenance).

The contract is to develop a high-performance computing (HPC) SoC (System on a Chip) using state-of-the-art 5nm (nanometer) technology. The company stated this as a key step that is anticipated to open substantial domestic and international market opportunities. This project aims to drive India to the forefront of semiconductor innovation, substantially improving the nation’s skills in advanced high-performance computing and microelectronics.

The 5nm technology represents a significant breakthrough in semiconductor manufacturing, offering enhanced performance, greater energy efficiency, and smaller chip size (Performance, Power & Area). This advancement bolsters MosChip’s position in the global market and creates new opportunities for Turnkey ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) solutions in both domestic and international markets.

The successful development of this 5nm chip is anticipated to attract significant interest from major industries globally that are looking for turnkey ASIC solutions that meet the highest performance and efficiency standards.

The company further added that the high-performance computing SoC is not restricted to the HPC market; they would expect its variants to be utilised in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and generic cloud computing spaces.
