February witnessed significant buying and selling on the BSE and NSE stock exchanges in bulk and block trades for Kalyan Jewellers India, Data Patterns, and Devyani International, among other companies. The equities were the centre of attention because of their technical and fundamental advancements. Data Patterns’ stock saw a 31% increase in value in February as a result of the bulk purchase.
When at least 5% of a company’s equity shares are traded all at once, it’s known as a bulk deal. Unlike block deals, these transactions can occur at any time during the regular trading period. A dedicated window does not need to open to conduct bulk transactions. That is feasible, though, during the block deal time.
Conversely, single trades with a minimum of 5 lakh shares or a value of Rs 10 crore are referred to as block deals. A block deal happens when two parties decide to purchase and sell at least this many shares at the same price.
