NLC India Limited, a Navratna company under the Ministry of Coal and the first Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) to achieve 1 GW of solar power generation in India, has signed a Power Usage Agreement in Hyderabad with Telangana State DISCOMs.

This agreement is for 200 MW of solar power at a competitive and affordable rate under the CPSU scheme for a period of 25 years.

The solar project by NLC India is expected to generate around 1,300 crore units of green electricity and reduce carbon emissions by 90 lakh tons over its lifetime. The project will use advanced technology, including single-axis trackers and high-efficiency modules made in India, supporting the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative. It is planned to be operational by June 2025.

This collaboration offers the dual benefits of providing affordable green energy and helping Telangana meet its Renewable Purchase Obligation. NLC India has been supplying over 234 MW of low-cost thermal power to Telangana for more than 30 years, and this move into renewable energy signifies the beginning of a long-term partnership focused on a sustainable future for both Telangana and NLC India.
