NSE’s Strategic Expansion: 45 New Stocks in F&O Segment

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) of India announced on November 13, 2024, the inclusion of futures and options (F&O) contracts for 45 additional stocks, effective from November 29, 2024. This expansion significantly broadens the scope for traders and investors by incorporating high-demand companies such as Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), Jio Financial Services, Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions, Nykaa, Paytm, YES Bank, and Zomato. These additions are a strategic step to diversify trading opportunities and enhance liquidity within the derivatives market.

SEBI’s Criteria and Approval: A Structured Addition

According to NSE’s circular, these inclusions are based on stock selection criteria set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) under the circular SEBI/HO/MRD/MRD-PoD-2/P/CIR/2024/116, dated August 30, 2024. This structured approach ensures that only companies meeting specific benchmarks enter the F&O segment, allowing for improved stability and robustness in trading. Following SEBI’s approval, the NSE is geared up to launch these contracts, which will enrich the available choices in derivatives trading.
