The Nifty50 index closed the day in the red, down by 82 points (-0.42%) from the previous session, opening at 19486.75, reaching a high of 19494.4, and a low of 19414.75 before settling at 19443.55. 

Top performers for the day included Coal India, Eicher Motors, Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra, and BPCL, while SBI Life, Bajaj Finance, Grasim, Infosys, and Nestle emerged as the top losers. Advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones, with 13 stocks making gains and 36 facing declines. State Bank of India remained unchanged throughout the day. 

In sectoral terms, Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Metals showed significant gains, while Consumer Durables, alongside the IT sector, faced the most substantial declines.
