The benchmark indices closed their streak of red session on April 19, 2024. Nifty 50 and Sensex ended higher with gains of 151 points and 599 points, respectively.

On April 19, 2024, Nifty 50 and Sensex rose 0.69% and 0.83% to  22,147 and 73,088, respectively. Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) bought securities worth around ₹129 crore, while domestic investors sold shares worth ₹52 crore. 

Top Gainers and Losers

On the sectoral front, Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Private Bank, Nifty Bank and Nifty Metal closed in green.  Nifty Media, Nifty Mid Small Healthcare, Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma settled in the red. The top gainers were Bajaj Finance, M&M, HDFC Bank and Maruti, which showed positive movement. On the other hand, ICICI Prudential, Bajaj Auto, TVS Motor, and Jio Financial Services were the top losers of the day.

ITC and Motilal Oswal were in the news on April 19, 2024.

  • ITC Infotech, a subsidiary of ITC Ltd, announced the acquisition of Pune-based IT company Blazeclan Technologies for ₹485 crore. As a result, ITC Ltd’s shares moved up by 1%.
  • The share price of Motilal Oswal soared 7% after the company announced its intention to issue bonus shares.
