The Indian stock market closed higher on January 29, 2024. The benchmark indices, Nifty 50, closed at 21,737 with a gain of 1.80%, and Sensex rose 1.76% to 71,941 settled. As per experts, investors are quite optimistic about the market. However, the market could witness a resistance at 21,750. On January 29, 2024, FIIs bought securities worth ₹110 crore, while DIIs bought securities of ₹3,221  crore. 

Top Gainers and Losers

ONGC, Reliance Industries, Coal India and Adani Enterprises were on the list of top gainers. SBI Cards & Payment Services, Cipla, Marico and ITC were the top losers.  Nifty Oil & Gas, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Financial Services 25/50 and Nifty Consumer Durables were gaining, while Nifty FMCG was falling.

Stocks In The News

Maharashtra Seamless and SJVN were in the news on January 29, 2024. Maharashtra Seamless won two contracts worth ₹116 crore from Indian Oil Corporation. As a result, the stock of Maharashtra Seamless closed ₹1,050 with a gain of 6%. SJVN bagged a solar power project of ₹550 crore, and the stock rallied to ₹130 with a gain of 12%.
