Radico Khaitan Unveils New Rampur Whiskies at London Show

On September 5, 2024, Radico Khaitan Limited, a major player in India’s IMFL industry, announced via a stock exchange filing that it will launch the next additions to its Rampur Jugalbandi series—Rampur Jugalbandi #5 and #6—at The Whisky Show in London, taking place from September 6 to 8, 2024.

These new whiskies, crafted at Rampur Distillery in the Himalayan foothills, are matured in casks chosen by Master Distiller Anup Barik. The Rampur Jugalbandi series is known for its limited-edition releases at cask strength. Jugalbandi #5 and #6 will be available in the UK, USA, EU, Singapore, and Global Travel Retail starting October 2024.

In musical terms, “Jugalbandi” refers to a duet where 2 solo musicians perform together in perfect harmony. This concept is mirrored in the Rampur Jugalbandi Single Malts, where 2 complementary casks blend seamlessly to create a harmonious whisky experience.

Jugalbandi #5 is aged first in American Bourbon barrels and then in Tokaji wine casks. This ageing process in North India’s climate gives it the classic Rampur Single Malt flavour. The bourbon barrels contribute fruity and floral notes, while the Tokaji casks add creamy, honeyed flavours. The whisky has hints of caramel, roasted almonds, and gingerbread on the nose, with a creamy texture and flavours of honey, caramel, vanilla, and chocolate on the palate.

Jugalbandi #6 is matured in Madeira casks in North India, enhancing its Rampur Single Malt characteristics. The Madeira casks bring floral and citrus notes, along with a mix of fruits and touches of caramelised pineapple and apricot. The nose features classic Rampur notes of ripe lychee, peach, apricot, mango, caramelised pineapple, roasted pecans, shortbread, and spicy cinnamon. On the palate, the whisky starts with vanilla and develops into flavours of dates, plum, and dark chocolate.
