Reliance Jio, India’s largest telecom operator, has announced its latest “New Year Welcome Plan” priced at ₹2025, continuing its tradition of launching special offers during this season. Designed to cater to its mobility users, this plan includes 2.5GB of data per day, unlimited 5G data, and a host of additional benefits through partner coupons.

Jio, an integral part of Reliance Industries, is India’s leading digital services provider connecting everyone, everything, everywhere!

This move aligns with Jio’s strategy of providing high-value services while creating buzz in the telecom space. However, it also reflects a calculated tariff hike, which impacts daily charges for users.

Features of the New Year Welcome Plan

The plan offers significant benefits:

1. Data and Connectivity:

  • 2.5GB daily high-speed data for the plan duration.
  • Unlimited 5G data for users in areas where the network is available.

2. Partner Coupons Worth ₹2,150:

Jio users subscribing to the plan will receive bundled coupons that include:

  • ₹500 off on AJIO for a minimum purchase of ₹2,500.
  • ₹150 off on Swiggy for a minimum order of ₹499.
  • ₹1,500 off on flight bookings through EaseMyTrip’s app and website.

These partner benefits aim to provide added value, effectively reducing the overall cost for users who redeem them.

Comparison with Older Plans

While the new plan offers additional perks, it also comes with a slight increase in per-day charges.

  • Cost Analysis:
    • New Plan: ₹10.125 per day.
    • Older Plan: ₹9.86 per day.

This subtle difference reflects the increased tariffs, potentially impacting budget-conscious users.

Subscriber Impact: Post-Tariff Hike Trends

According to official data for the July–September 2024 period, Jio experienced the highest subscriber loss among private telecom operators, with a decline of 10.94 million users.

  • Comparative Subscriber Losses:
    • Reliance Jio: 10.94 million.
    • Airtel: 5.27 million.
    • Vodafone Idea (VIL): 4.80 million.
