Route Mobile Partners with Billeasy for WhatsApp Metro Ticket Booking in Four Indian Cities

On June 24, 2024, Route Mobile Limited partnered with Billeasy E Solutions Private Limited to provide WhatsApp-based ticket booking for the metro systems in Pune, Hyderabad, Nagpur, and Delhi.

More than 7.5 million commuters use these metros daily. To buy tickets, passengers simply visit the official WhatsApp account of the respective metro, choose their stations, make the payment, and receive their tickets directly through WhatsApp. They can also pay for the tickets right from WhatsApp.

Currently, 15 cities in India have active Metro services, and Route Mobile has enabled WhatsApp ticket booking for four of them, making it the largest provider in this area. Route Mobile first introduced this service for Delhi Metro in the second half of 2023. Now, they have expanded it to Nagpur, Pune, and Hyderabad through a partnership with Billeasy, which has been leading this solution since 2020.

Booking tickets on WhatsApp involves using advanced features like web views and payment integrations. Route Mobile was among the first to adopt these features to create a user-friendly, reliable, fast, and secure solution. This service was developed at Route Lab, Route Mobile’s Research and Development centre.

Metro Ticket Booking Process

To use the service, users chat with the metro’s official WhatsApp account, follow simple instructions such as selecting the ‘from’ and ‘to’ stations and the number of tickets, and pay using their preferred method (UPI, Net banking, credit, or debit cards). Once the payment is completed, users receive the tickets as a WhatsApp message with a link to a QR code, which they can show at the station to travel.
