Eicher Motors Limited, a multinational automotive company based in India that manufactures motorcycles and commercial vehicles, has its headquarters in New Delhi. Eicher is the owner of the middleweight motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield.
In order to serve the 250-750cc market with what the company refers to as “city+” mobility, Royal Enfield announced its entry into the electric vehicle market on November 4 in Milan with the launch of a new electric motorcycle under the Flying Flea brand. The category will include the traditional Flying Flea C6 and the scrambler-style Flying Flea S6, both of which are expected to arrive by early 2026 and are packed with connectivity features, according to Royal Enfield. The FF-C6 will be the first model under the Flying Flea brand to be released in 2025, the company announced.
The managing director of Eicher Motors, Siddhartha Lal, stated, “This is a significant step in our evolution as a brand and an opportunity for us to distil the essence of Royal Enfield DNA combined with all the great benefits of EV technology and bring something absolutely delightful and differentiable to the world of city-plus mobility.” Royal Enfield stated that the Flying Flea brand embodies the company’s vision for electric urban and city+ motorcycles, which are intended for a worldwide market.
In the previous teaser for the website, the date, November 4, 2024, was displayed alongside a bike that had been airlifted by a parachute and was ready for a drop. Motorcycle paradropping has a strong historical connection to World War II when Allied forces used motorcycles to transport troops who needed quick, mobile transportation after landing. The lightweight motorcycle created for this purpose during World War II, known as “The Royal Enfield Flying Flea,” was subsequently offered for sale to civilians following the conflict. Royal Enfield stated, “With the Flying Flea brand and its upcoming range of electric vehicles, this lightness, agility, and adaptability return.”
The original Flying Flea has a striking and striking design, with its curved frame, finned battery box, and skeletal front end looking stunning in the prototype (albeit a bit unimpressive in black). We will assume that it will have an “urban-plus” range of about 60-70 miles (100-120 km) with a battery capacity of 8-10 kWh. We have yet to see any important specifications, but it should have enough power to get you up to highway speed for a quick mist.
