Sealmatic India Limited Secures Prestigious Order for Mongol Refinery Project

On June 3, 2024, Sealmatic India Limited informed the stock exchanges that it had secured the most prestigious order for mechanical seals and supply systems (API 682 Plans) from a key Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Pvt Ltd, through Engineers India Ltd for the Mongol Refinery project.

This order, valued at a remarkable ₹15 crore, marks a significant milestone in Sealmatic’s journey. The project entails supplying 247 mechanical seals and 187 API 682 Plans, comprising 87 API Plan 52, 74 API Plan 53B, and 26 API Plan 21 & 23 units. These quantities set a new record for the highest supplied by any seal company for a refinery project.

Since 2018, discussions surrounding the Mongol Refinery project near Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar, have seen significant progress. This government-to-government (G2G) initiative is pivotal for Mongolia’s critical infrastructure, aiming to enhance its economic development and energy security. Approved by the Ministry of Mineral Resources Professional Council in November 2018, the detailed feasibility study for the refinery was conducted in collaboration with Indian engineers and experts.

This greenfield project is valued at approximately ₹7,000 crore. The Mongol Refinery is being built under extreme climatic conditions, with temperatures ranging from -35°C to +40°C. Upon completion, the refinery is anticipated to deliver 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil per annum, fulfilling Mongolia’s local demand for diesel, gasoline, LPG and aviation fuel. The objective is to reduce Mongolia’s reliance on oil imports from Russia, thereby enhancing the country’s energy independence and economic stability.
