Siemens Limited, as a part of a consortium with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), has secured a contract from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for the electrification of Bengaluru Metro phase two. This project aims to enhance sustainable urban transport in the city. The total contract value is approximately ₹766 crore, with Siemens Limited’s share as part of the consortium amounting to about ₹558 crore.

Siemens Limited will be responsible for designing, engineering, installing, and commissioning rail electrification technologies, along with a digital solution that includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. The project spans 30 stations across 58 kilometers, connecting the Bengaluru Airport terminal to Central Silk Board via KR Puram, and includes two depots. This initiative expands Siemens’ footprint to 11 of the 20 cities with metro systems in India.

Speaking of this significant order, the Head of Mobility Business of Siemens Limited, Gunjan Vakharia, said, “The implementation of Phase 2 will significantly contribute to sustainable urban development in Bengaluru, catering to the requirements of commuters and Metro Rail authorities.”

In Q4 FY 2024, Siemens Ltd recorded revenue of ₹5,313.80 crore, marking an increase of 18.99% compared to ₹4,465.20 crore reported in the corresponding period of FY 2023. For the quarter ending March 2024, the net profit amounted to ₹896.40 crore, reflecting a significant rise of 73.26% from ₹516.00 crore in Q4 FY 2023.
