Indian stock markets will be closed for trading on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, due to voting for the Maharashtra state elections. The elections will be held for 288 seats, with 4,136 candidates contesting. Vote counting will take place on November 23, 2024.

Trading Hours and Market Status

  • Stock Market

Both the Stock Exchange NSE and the BSE will remain closed for all trading activities on Wednesday, including stocks, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing.

  • Commodity Market

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed for the morning session (9 AM to 5 PM), but will open for evening trading from 5 PM to 11:55 PM (until 9 PM for some Agri Commodities). The National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) will be closed.

  • Contract Expiry

Any contracts expiring on November 20, 2024, will be settled a day earlier, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
