The Indian stock market will have only one holiday in December 2024, which will be observed on 25th December for Christmas. Apart from this, trading will remain suspended on weekends — Saturdays (7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th) and Sundays (1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th). Therefore, the stock market will be closed in December for 10 days, leaving only 21 trading sessions remaining for the year.

Despite a holiday in the US stock market, Indian stock indices saw strong buying interest. The Nifty 50 rose by 208 points to close at 24,122, while the BSE Sensex gained 699 points, ending at 79,743. The Nifty Bank index increased by 117 points to 52,023.
The Nifty Mid-cap 100 and Small-cap 100 indices also continued their positive trend, marking six consecutive days of gains, with increases of 0.16% and 0.75%, respectively.

Adani group stocks, including Adani Green Energy, Adani Energy Solutions, and Adani Total Gas, surged by as much as 23% after being included in the F&O segment on November 29, 2024.
