On 07 June 2023, Tata Elxsi Limited informed in the exchange filing that the company has partnered with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) to enable the upcoming Gaganyaan Mission. Through the association, Tata Elxsi has designed and developed Crew Module Recovery Models (CMRM) for recovery team training of the space Mission.
ISRO’s Gaganyaan project aims to demonstrate human spaceflight capabilities by launching the crew into a 400-kilometre orbit for a three-day mission and ensuring their safe return through a landing in Indian sea waters. An essential aspect of this project is the secure recovery of the crew, which necessitates the use of crew recovery models (CMRMs).
Tata Elxsi has played a crucial role in developing and fabricating these CMRMs, which accurately simulate the mass, centre of gravity, outer dimensions, interfaces, and externals of the actual Crew Module.
Tata Elxsi’s involvement encompassed various stages, including design configuration based on ISRO’s initial requirements, structural analysis for different load scenarios, material procurement and testing, fabrication, load testing, as well as transportation of the CMRM and Ground Support Fixture (GSF).
Tata Elxsi Limited is amongst the world’s leading providers of design and technology services across industries including Automotive, Media, Communications and Healthcare.
