On October 8, 2024, Tata Motors Limited released its global wholesale figures for Q2 FY25, reporting a decline across several segments compared to Q2 FY24.

The Tata Motors Group, including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), recorded total global wholesales of 3,04,189 vehicles, marking an 11% drop from the previous year. This decrease reflects a slowdown in the global automotive market.

In the commercial vehicle segment, including the Tata Daewoo range, Tata Motors reported 86,133 wholesales, a decline of 19% year-on-year. The passenger vehicle segment, including electric vehicles, also saw a 6% reduction, with global wholesales amounting to 1,30,753 units.

Jaguar Land Rover’s global wholesales for Q2 FY25 were 87,303 vehicles, reflecting a 10% decrease compared to the same quarter in FY24. Within this segment, Jaguar wholesales accounted for 5,961 vehicles, while Land Rover wholesales stood at 81,342 vehicles. Notably, these figures do not include the volume from the Chery Jaguar Land Rover (CJLR) joint venture in China, which is a collaboration between JLR and Chery Automobiles.

The decline in wholesale volumes across segments indicates the challenges Tata Motors faces in maintaining momentum amid global market conditions. However, the company’s focus on electric vehicles, as part of its passenger vehicle lineup, suggests an ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. Tata Motors will likely continue to monitor and adapt to changing market dynamics in the coming quarters.

Earlier this month, on October 1, 2024, the company announced that their sales in the domestic and international market for Q2 FY 2024-25 stood at 2,15,034 vehicles, compared to 2,43,024 units during Q2 FY 2023-24.

On October 8, 2024, the share price of Tata Motors Ltd opened at ₹916.00, touching the day’s high at ₹924.80, and closed at ₹919.80 on the NSE.
