On October 8, 2024, Tata Technologies, a global leader in product engineering and digital services, announced the launch of a joint venture (JV) with the BMW Group, a top premium car manufacturer. Named BMW TechWorks India, this new venture will start with 100 employees in key tech hubs in Pune, Bengaluru, and Chennai and aims to grow its workforce to over 1,000 by the end of 2025.

Both Tata Technologies and BMW Group will equally share ownership of the JV, highlighting their joint goal of advancing innovation in automotive technology and IT services. BMW TechWorks India will support BMW’s global strategy by creating advanced software solutions for future vehicles and improving digital experiences.

The collaboration focuses on utilising India’s exceptional engineering talent to develop software solutions for smart and automated vehicles, digital infotainment, and other automotive services. It will also enhance the digital transformation of BMW’s global production network and improve customer interactions. Additionally, the JV will work on AI applications to streamline core business processes.

This partnership offers young professionals in India the chance to work on innovative technologies that will impact global mobility. The JV aims to nurture local talent and promote India as a key player in the automotive technology sector.

Commenting on the establishment of the JV with BMW Group, Warren Harris, CEO and MD of Tata Technologies, said, “Our joint venture with the BMW Group, BMW TechWorks India, underscores our deep expertise in software-defined vehicles and reflects our commitment to driving innovation in both automotive software and business IT.”
