Tech Mahindra has entered into a multi-year Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop an Autonomous Networks Operations Platform (ANOP). This platform leverages generative AI (GenAI), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) services to modernize telecom network operations, targeting both Communication Service Providers (CSPs) and enterprise customers.

AI-Driven Network Transformation

The ANOP platform, powered by AWS’s cloud services, will transition network operations from traditional on-premises infrastructure to a hybrid cloud-based, proactive model. It will also offer actionable, real-time recommendations for Network Operations Center (NOC) processes, field dispatch optimization, and automated preventive measures like self-healing capabilities.

According to Tech Mahindra, this approach can improve NOC productivity by over 50%, reduce field visits by more than 15%, and cut Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) for network incidents by over 30%. Additionally, the platform speeds up network and service configurations.

AWS Technologies

The platform integrates AWS tools, including Amazon SageMaker, for building and deploying ML models, and Amazon Bedrock, which will offer access to foundation models for GenAI applications. These tools enable predictive analytics, helping telecom operators use historical data to predict equipment failures, reduce downtime, and improve service reliability.

Industry Initiatives

Tech Mahindra is testing Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) functions on Amazon’s EKS Anywhere platform. This effort is to accelerate the cloudification of Radio Access Networks (RAN) at the edge, for help with network flexibility and scalability.

Market Context & Outlook

The collaboration comes amid demand for AI-driven telecom solutions. The global AI in telecommunication market is projected to reach $14.99 billion by 2027, driven by the need to optimize network operations, reduce costs, and manage increasing data complexity.

Tech Mahindra’s share price stands at Rs 1,717.60, showing a 2.23% decrease today and a 32.41% increase year-to-date.
