Stocks in India rose across the board on Thursday, with the main indexes hitting new highs! The Sensex climbed nearly 0.7%, ending the day at 71,847.57, while the Nifty advanced over 0.6% to 21,658.60.
Things are getting calmer on the market, too. The India VIX, which measures volatility, dropped 5.3%, showing less worry among investors.
Real estate, financials, energy, and banking stocks led the charge, pushing their respective indexes higher. Bajaj Finance, Tata Consumer Products, and NTPC were among the biggest winners in the Nifty 50, while BPCL, LTI, and Dr. Reddy’s Labs dragged the index down slightly.
Smaller companies also enjoyed the rally, with the Nifty Midcap and Smallcap indexes jumping 1.7% and 1%, respectively.
Overall, it was a good day for the Indian market, with more stocks going up than down, suggesting a positive mood among investors.
