On Monday, the market built on Friday’s gains and closed at a record high. The market cap of BSE-listed companies reached a record Rs 455 lakh crore. The Sensex surged by 0.18% to close at 80,664.86, while the Nifty rose by 0.35% to a record high of 24,635.05.

Among sectors, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Media, and Nifty Realty were top gainers, while Nifty IT was the only major sector to underperform.

ONGC, SBI Life, and Shriram Finance were among the top gainers, whereas LTIMindtree, Asian Paints, and Grasim Industries were top losers.

The broader market also saw gains, with Nifty Midcap closing 0.86% higher at a record 57,687.65, and Nifty Smallcap rising by 0.52%. Advancing stocks numbered 1,259 compared to 1,058 decliners, indicating positive sentiment in the broader market.
