In today’s bearish trading session, the Nifty 50 index extended its losses, closing down by 159.6 points, or 0.83%. The markets opened at 19,286.45, reached a high of 19,347.3, and a low of 19,074 before closing at 19,122.15.

Out of the 50 constituents in the Nifty 50 index, only 10 stocks advanced, while 40 declined, forming an Advance-Decline Ratio of 0.25.

Notable gainers included Coal India, Tata Steel, Tata Consumer, and Hindalco, while Adani Enterprises, Cipla, Apollo Hospitals, SBI Life, and NTPC were among the top losers.

The Nifty Metal and Nifty PSU Bank indices showed resilience, provisionally closing in the green. However, the Nifty Media and Nifty Realty indices succumbed to the bearish forces and registered losses.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index fell by 253.1 points, or 0.65%, while the Nifty SmallCap 100 index was down 30.4 points, or 0.24%.
