The trading session on Thursday saw the BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty-50 indices ending in negative territory, with the Sensex showing a slight uptick of 0.19%, closing at 66,283, while the Nifty experienced a 0.22% decline, settling at 19,751. On the BSE, 1,805 shares advanced, 1,859 declined, and 156 remained unchanged.
In the broader markets, both the BSE Mid-Cap Index and the BSE Small-Cap Index were in negative territory, with marginal decreases of 0.03 percent and 0.04 percent, respectively. Among the mid-cap gainers were Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd and SJVN Ltd, while the top small-cap gainers included GFL Ltd, Jai Corp Ltd, and Agi Greenpac Ltd.
Regarding sectoral performance, the indices displayed mixed results, with the BSE Auto Index emerging as one of the top gainers, while the BSE Bankex Index was among the top losers.
As of October 13, 2023, the market capitalization of BSE-listed companies stood at approximately Rs 3,21,94,549 crore or Rs 322 lakh crore. On the same day, 279 stocks reached their 52-week high, while 23 stocks touched their 52-week low.
