Torrent Power launches EV power stations in Ahmedabad

Torrent Power Ltd announced the launch of public EV charging stations in Ahmedabad according to the latest exchange filing on Monday.

In July 2023, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Torrent Power Ltd, ventured into the Electric Mobility Infrastructure Sector. They have successfully established an initial set of 4 EV charging stations in Ahmedabad, with plans to launch 2 more in Surat soon. Moreover, there are intentions to expand to additional cities soon.

At the inauguration ceremony, M Thennarasan, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, officially opened the 4 EV Charging Stations from Torrent Power’s office at Prahladnagar, Ahmedabad. The event was graced by the presence of Robert Demann, Executive Vice President of Siemens India and Smart Infrastructure Head for South Asia at Siemens Ltd.

This move represents a significant stride towards a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future for the residents of Ahmedabad and Surat. By promoting electric vehicles that produce zero pollutants, these charging stations have the potential to considerably reduce emissions and enhance air quality in urban areas.

The development of a robust Public EV charging infrastructure is vital to drive a transportation revolution, encouraging people to embrace electric vehicles and making the transition more convenient for them.

Following are the locations of Torrent Power’s public EV charging stations in Ahmedabad are Prahladnagar (plug point premises, near Prahladnagar Garden), Naranpura (Torrent Power Naranpura office), Drive-in Road (Near Saurabh Society), and Raipur (Opposite Raipur Darwaja Bus Stand, near Railway Station and ST Bus Stop).

Torrent Power Ltd has partnered with SIEMENS to develop its EV Charging network. In Ahmedabad, they have installed three 60KW DC Fast chargers at Prahladnagar, Naranpura, and Drive-In-Road, with each charger capable of serving two vehicles simultaneously.

Additionally, a 22 kW AC charger has been set up at the Raipur location in Ahmedabad. The details of these charging stations can be found on the Torrent Power Customer Portal and the statiQ App.

To make fast charging accessible and affordable for the citizens of Ahmedabad, the company has set the charging rate at Rs. 12 per unit, which is one of the most competitive rates in the city. Furthermore, they are offering an attractive 20% discount on the first charge for a limited period, encouraging more people to opt for electric vehicle charging services.

The shares of Torrent Power Ltd concluded the day at Rs 611.20 each on the BSE.
