On Tuesday, the benchmark indices were trading lower with the Sensex down around 505 points or 0.70% at 71,774 while the Nifty-50 down around 138 points or 0.63% at 21,605. About 1,470 shares have advanced, 2,063 declined, and 147 are unchanged on the BSE.
The top Sensex gainers were Bharti Airtel Ltd, Bajaj Finance Ltd and Bajaj FinServ Ltd whereas the top Sensex losers were Wipro Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd and Ultratech Cement Ltd.
The indices in the broader markets were trading lower, with the BSE Mid-cap index down 0.84% and the BSE Small-cap index down 0.80%, respectively. The top mid-cap gainers were GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Yes Bank while the top small-cap gainers were Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd and Satin Credit Care Network Ltd.
The BSE Healthcare Index was the top gaining among the sectorial indices and the BSE Auto Index was the top losing sector. The BSE Healthcare Index soared 1.50% led by Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd and Sun Pharma Advanced Research Company Ltd while the BSE Auto Index was down 1.35% dragged down by Eicher Motors Ltd and Ashok Leyland.
